Earth Day Is April 22nd!
What is Earth Day?
First held on April 22nd, 1970, and held every April 22nd thereafter, Earth Day is an annual event created to demonstrate support for and highlight issues regarding environmental protection. A wide range of events are coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG, including over 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.
What is happening this year?
“Invest in Our Planet” is the theme for Earth Day 2023 and features six primary programs:
1. Climate Literacy
2. End Plastics
3. Plant Trees
4. Vote Earth
5. Global Clean-Up
6. Sustainable Fashion
EARTHDAY.ORG states that this year’s theme is “focused on engaging governments, institutions, businesses, and the more than 1 billion citizens who participate annually in Earth Day to do their part – everyone accounted for, everyone accountable.”
