Hazardous materials… what do you need to know?

Hazardous waste is everywhere. Heck, even the computer I am using to type this blog post is considered hazardous waste. So, what do you need to know in order to do your part for the planet and also avoid breaking any laws?\r\rWell, first of all, you need to know what is classified as hazardous waste. So, here is a list of items that are considered hazmat: floruescent light bulbs, paint, chemicals, automobile fluids, tires, Treated Wood, and most electronics including computers, monitors, printers, televisions, cell phones, and nearly everything with either a battery or a power cord. Pretty crazy, right? So what are you supposed to do when you need to get rid of this type of junk?\r\rWell, thankfully, Orange County has set up 4 household hazardous waste dumping locations that accept SOME of this waste for free. They will accept light bulbs, batteries, paint, chemicals, and automobile fluids. They will accept up to 15 gallons at a time, and the only restriction is that it MUST be coming from a home, not a business. Here is the official county link: http://oclandfills.com/hazardous/\r\rNow what if you have treated wood, tires, or heavy electronic waste like big screen tv’s or old computer monitors? Well, that’s where EarthWise comes in. We can legally and safely haul your E-Waste, Treated Wood, and Tires. We can also dispose of these items in most Eco-Friendly way possible. Each of these items needs to be shipped to a different facility for recycling, and EarthWise takes the needed time to sort and seperate these hazardous materials so that this can be done.\r\rSo, hopefully you are a little more informed about hazardous waste now. Don’t hesitate to give us a call if you have any questions regarding our services or anything related to what we do!\r\r \r\rThanks for reading!\r\r \r\rJoe
